PPFA Foundation Launches Menstrual Health Education Workshops Across 12+ Secondary Schools in Cameroon

In Partnership With Days for Girls International, 1,242 Adolescent Girls to Receive Reusable Menstrual Kits Lasting Up to 10 Years

Yaoundé, Douala, Bamenda, Buea, Nkambe, Limbe

The PPFA Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit with extensive programming in Cameroon since 2012, is launching a national menstrual health initiative in collaboration with Days for Girls International (DfG). Beginning this year, PPFA Foundation will conduct comprehensive menstrual health workshops across 12 or more secondary schools throughout Cameroon.

As part of the program, each participating school will identify 100 girls who have just begun menstruating or are about to start. These students will receive high-quality, reusable menstrual kits donated by Days for Girls International. Designed to last up to 10 years, the DfG Kits provide durable, sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions that allow girls to attend school confidently and consistently.

Addressing Barriers to Girls' Education

In many regions of Cameroon, limited access to menstrual hygiene products, combined with persistent myths and stigma, contributes to repeated school absences for adolescent girls. By equipping students with both accurate menstrual health education and long-lasting menstrual supplies, the program aims to:

  • Strengthen girls' knowledge of menstrual care and hygiene
  • Reduce school absenteeism due to menstruation
  • Increase girls' confidence and participation in school
  • Challenge cultural taboos surrounding menstruation
  • Promote long-term, sustainable menstrual health practices

A Partnership Focused on Impact and Dignity

PPFA Foundation's longstanding presence in Cameroon ensures strong community relationships, trusted engagement, and informed program delivery.

Empowering girls through knowledge and sustainable menstrual solutions is essential for their academic success and personal dignity. Thanks to Days for Girls, we are reaching girls at the most critical stage — the moment they begin their menstrual journey.

PPFA Foundation Representative

We are honored to partner with PPFA Foundation in Cameroon to ensure that menstruation never stands in the way of a girl's education. Our kits and curriculum are designed to support girls for years to come.
